COVID-19 Update from Sommerville Vet Centre
As the current situation evolves we want to let you know about the steps we’re taking to ensure the ongoing health and welfare of clients, staff and patients during New Zealand’s response to COVID-19.
A reminder that we are still operational during the “LEVEL 4” Lockdown but things are different. As of midnight 25/03//20 we are in uncharted waters and we will rely on the cooperation and willingness of all our clients to help us navigate the next four weeks or so.
We will continue to send email updates and reminders of what we need you to know and what we need from you to help us.
Sommerville Vets Closed on Saturdays
We have reviewed our opening hours and to help reduce risks to our staff and clients we have decided to be closed on Saturday mornings effective from today. Small animal emergencies can be dealt with at the Manukau After Hours Clinic. If you have any non-urgent need for vet care or prescriptions you must contact us during the week. Please do not leave this to Friday afternoon!
This is NOT business as usual
We are an essential service but it does not mean we can provide services as we have done in pre-COVID-19 times. We have an obligation which comes with the privilege of being essential to protect our staff and our clients from this virus and to play our part in ensuring this lock-down works.
You MUST call us first if you have any need to visit the clinic. Our doors are locked and in most cases we will be taking your pet from you so that you do not have to come into the clinic. We will update you next week with our systems for home delivery of prescriptions and OTC products.
We ask that everyone respects the two meter rule.
Please, please follow the directions of any of our staff members.
Sudden Changes to Appointments
To keep us all safe we have asked our staff to stay home if they have any symptoms or illness and to only come back to work when they and we are satisfied they pose no health risk to other staff or clients. Because of this we may have to change or cancel your appointment or reschedule a drug or product pick-up at short or no notice. Please be tolerant. We will not delay any service that we consider to be vital but some disruptions may occur.

This email is cleared at least twice a day and it would help us if you have prescription refill requests to email those to us with at least 48 hours notice so that we can organize them for you.
